Introduction to Trail Maintenance

  Show your Mother Earth some love and give her a haircut on Earth Day. Learn what it takes to keep the trails you love clear and findable, and the tips and techniques involved. Enjoy a breath of fresh air on a breath-taking trail. This course covers an introduction to the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and provides the skills necessary to maintain a hiking trail so it is easily passable and harmonious with its surroundings. Participants will learn assessment of trail conditions, clearing, blazing, proper use of tools and how to report any trail problems they may come across on their segment of trail.  Dress for the weather. Wear your hiking boots and work gloves - bring water and a bag lunch.
