This indoor/outdoor training session covers an introduction to the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and provides the skills necessary to maintain a hiking trail so it is easily passable and harmonious with its surroundings.   Participants will learn assessment of trail conditions, clearing, blazing, proper use of tools and how to report any trail problems they may come across on their segment of trail. Part of the afternoon will be in class, and also hiking the visitor center trails.  Be prepared for changeable weather.    We will return to the Carriage House Vistor Center to wrap up the workshop, enjoy refreshments and evaluate your experience. Wear your hiking boots and work gloves - bring water and a bag lunch.    No previous experience is necessary and all are welcome to attend to learn about the Trail Conference and how we maintain trails.
