Bear Mountain Tool Use & Safety

There's an old saying, Work smarter not harder, and proper tool use is a big part of this concept. This important workshop will save you time on the trail and potential damage to your back and hands. Students learn how properly to use tools like pick mattocks, rock bars, hazel hoes, MacLeods, and sledge hammers. You'll also perform practical excercises in moving large rocks utilizing the mechanical advantage of rock bars and picks. This course is geared toward the tools used on the Bear Mountain Trails Project.  It is required that volunteers attend this course before they work on Bear Mountain due to the technical nature of work.
