West Jersey Trail Crew Outing

We will continue work upgrading and replacing the puncheon on the Cedar Swamp Trail. Meeting location: the maintenance shop at Wawayanda State Park.  For all work trips, bring your lunch, plenty of water, gloves and sturdy work shoes, and be prepared to get dirty. All tools, materials and training will be provided. Beginners are welcomed on all work trips. All events begin at 9:00am. There is usually a walk to the work site, so please be there on time (call the leaders’ cell phone if you are coming to an event and are running late). Rain cancels – if in doubt, call the leaders between 6:00 and 6:30 that morning.   Carpooling: if anyone is interested in carpooling (offering a ride or riding), please let the leaders know and we will try to arrange a shared ride. (Passengers please be prepared to contribute for gas.) - Cedar Swamp Trail, Wawayanda State Park. - Wawayanda State Park maintenance shopparking lot. From the south/east. Take Route 23 north to Union Valley Road. Follow Union Valley Road about 6 miles to a stop sign. Continue through the stop sign, and proceed, still on Union Valley Road, to the second traffic light. Turn left at the light, (I think it’s still Union Valley Road, but not well indicated as such) and continue approximately 2 miles to a fork in road. Take the left fork; in about 1/2 mile the road makes a T intersection with Warwick Turnpike. Turn left onto Warwick Turnpike. The park entrance is four miles ahead on the left, and is well marked. Drive up the park driveway, to the visitor center/park headquarters building. You will see the maintenance buildings on the right beyond the park headquarters. Drive past the visitor center and immediately turn right into the parking lot for the maintenance facility.  From the west/north: Take Rt. 94 to Warwick Turnpike (north of Vernon NJ and south of Warwick NY--sorry, we haven't measured the mileage )--it's a right turn if you're traveling north from Vernon; there's a sign at the turn for Greenwood Lake, but nothing indicating that it is Warwick Turnpike. Continue on Warwick Turnpike until you see the park entrance on your right. Drive up the park driveway, to the visitor center/park headquarters building. You will see the maintenance buildings on the right beyond the park headquarters. Drive past the visitor center and immediately turn right into the parking lot for the maintenance facility.
