West Jersey Trail Crew Outing

The West Jersey Crew will be working this Saturday, May 23, on the (upper) Dunnfield Creek Trail in Worthington State Forest. We will be relocating a section of the trail that is now missing--having been eroded into the stream, and improving other areas of the trail. Meeting location: the FarviewTrail trailhead parking lot. Note: This is not the meeting place that was listed in the Schedule. (Driving directions are below.) Carpooling: if anyone is interested in carpooling (offering a ride or riding), please let us know and we will try to arrange a shared ride. (Passengers please be prepared to contribute for gas.) Rain cancels. We usually notify about rain cancellations via email, so please make sure to check your email Friday evening. We have a 2 1/2 mile hike(!) to the work site (tools will be transported for approx 2/3 of the distance). We do not expect to be back at the trailhead until at least 5:00 pm. - To be determined. - From the east (New York City, etc.): travel on Rt. 80 westbound into the Delaware Water Gap. At about the 1-mile marker Rt. 80 goes through a series of 'S' turns. Make sure you’re in the right lane at that point. Pass the exit for the Dunnfield Creek Parking Area, and exit Rt 80 at Exit 1 (there is a 'Last Exit Before Toll' sign). At the bottom of the ramp turn right, onto Old Mine Road. (Be patient at the light for the one-way section: it has a 3-minute cycle). Continue on Old Mine Road for 1 mile. The Farview Trail trailhead parking is on the right, reached through a narrow driveway. (The driveway is across the road from the large parking lot with a dumpster.)
