Trail Crew: AT Dutchess-Putnam Appalachian Trail

Call leader to confirm outings. Over the course of the last two years, hurricanes have washed out or  damaged sections of the Appalachian Trail.  Projects this season will include(1) installing seven 10 foot ceder log water bars on Hosener Mountain that rotted out over the last five years.These need to be replaced to control  further water damage to the trail.They will be replaced with dead ceder trees from Appalachian Trail lands.(2) Repairing a 20 foot wooden bridge. (3) Building a fifteen foot x four foot high retaining wall of stone to prevent hill wash out and (4) Installing more stone/wooden cribbing steps.This repair location   is at the intersection of I84 and Stormville Mountain Rd.  (5) Repainting the under side and top decking of the Seth Lyon Memorial Bridge behind RPHCabin.  For all of the above projects we will meet on Saturdays rain or shine at 9am on Hortontown Rd. (Hopewell, Jct) directly in front of RPHCabin.  Parking on Hortontown Rd or at RPHCabin or the work sites. - Meet at RPH Cabin. - RPH Cabin is Southwest of the intersection of Interstate 84 and the Taconic Parkway.  Get off the taconic at Miller Hill Road.  At the bottom of the ramp, turn down the hill.  Turn Left onto Hortontown Road.  RPH Cabin will be on your right.
