VCP Hike-A-Thon

6th Annual Hike-a-ThonSaturday April 25th, 2015 at 10am 242nd Street and Broadway near the last stop of the 1 trainHiking for a Healthier NYC! Get out for a hike and help us raise funds for the restoration of Van Cortlandt Park’s spectacular hiking trails. Similar to a Walk-a-Thon, we are asking you to seek out supporters to sponsor your hike for this rain or shine event.  Participants can choose one of three hiking routes (1-5 miles) the day of the event. $25 Registration Fee includes a “VCP Where NYC Hikes” t-shirt and an expertly guided hike of our beautiful park.Register by Wednesday April 22nd, 2015.   REGISTER NOWor Download Hike-a-Thon Registration Form and Mail It In. The first 100 participants to register and raise $100 or more ($50 if under 18) in pledges will receive a goody bag. Last year, over 90 people came out for the Friends’ 5th Annual Hike-a-Thon and raised over $9,000 for the restoration of the hiking trails this year. With last year’s donations our Volunteer Trails Crew made improvements on many trails including: – Repaired drainage ditches along the Old Croton Aqueduct – Installed waterbars on the Cross Country Course – Installed check dams on the John Muir Trail – Closed unofficial trails, aka desire lines, in the park
