The Lenape Trail is a unique experience, blending historic urban landmarks with back-country style trails and manicured county parks across its 34-mile length. Over this span it serves as a highlight reel of Essex County's many notable parks, vistas and historic locations. This event will introduce the trail and teach the basics of trail maintenance so that new volunteers can learn how to get involved.
Trail Maintenance is clearing, cleaning, and blazing. Trail maintainers use small hand tools to clip and cut brush out of the trail, remove debris from drainage structures, and paint or hang the markers used for route finding also known as blazes.
This course helps you gain or brush up on the skills necessary to a Lenape Trail Maintainer Volunteer. Skills include how to clip trail corridor, paint trail marking, and report trail conditions so the trail stays in top condition.
