To thank you for being a supporter of the Jersey Trail Conference, please be our guest on a fall hike at Bear Mountain, Friday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. Together we’ll tour the most intense and comprehensive footpath rehabilitation project on the entire Appalachian Trail. Trail Conference volunteers built the first section of the A.T. here in 1923 and today it receives over a million visitors every year. On your hike, we’ll see firsthand how cutting edge technology is creating sustainable trails, built to last for our lifetimes and beyond.
This will be a moderately paced hike of about 4 miles with a few hundred feet of elevation gain. We will meet at Perkins Tower, located at the summit of Bear Mountain on Perkins Memorial Drive. Please arrive early to ensure finding a parking space. Dress for conditions, bring plenty of water and wear hiking shoes with ankle support.
