Join us for a steep, challenging and inspiring 5-mile hike through the history on mighty Storm King Mountain. Professor Lifset, author of Power on the Hudson will lead us to awe-inspiring views of the Hudson River and share the tale of how the Trail Conference and its partners prevented Storm King from being taken over by GE as a massive power plant. Starting at the Esty and Hellie Stowell Trailhead, we will also see the results of Trail Conference volunteers’ cutting edge trail building work through some of the area's steepest and most rugged terrain. Due to its steep nature and 1,000-foot vertical climb, this challenging hike is only appropriate for hikers with strong legs and good cardiovascular fitness. Bring plenty of water, snacks, proper footwear and any personal medications to ensure a safe, enjoyable hike.
