Lark in the Park - Leave No Trace Hike at Slide Mountain

Registration is closed for this event
Celebrate the 2019 Catskills Lark in the Park with a Leave No Trace awareness workshop and hike at Slide Mountain!

Join a Trail Conference Trail Steward on a beautiful fall hike to the summit of the tallest mountain in the Catskills!

During the hike, Trail Stewards will discuss Leave No Trace principles as well as what it means to be a trail steward. The hike will begin at the Slide Mountain trailhead where we start the difficult climb up to the summit. Along the way, you will experience a few different viewpoints where you will be able to enjoy the changing fall foliage. At the summit, you can enjoy a snack and learn about John Burroughs, an early conservationist, and naturalist who frequently visited the area.

The 2019 Catskills Lark in the Park will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 14. Since its inception in 2004, the Lark has brought together people and organizations participating in hundreds of events aimed at celebrating and heightening awareness of the Catskill Mountains region of New York State and the Catskill Park. Activities annually include organized hikes, bicycle trips, paddles, service, and cultural and educational events. The coordination of this event is managed through a partnership between the Trail Conference, the Catskill Mountain ClubThe Catskill Center, and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

The Trail Conference is hosting several events during this year's Lark.
