Trail Supervisors are a key part of the Trail Conference. They are the boots on the ground that oversee a team of Trail Maintainers and ensure the trails in their assigned area are maintained in good condition. Without our Trail Supervisors, we couldn’t maintain over 2,000 miles of trails so that the public has a safe and positive experience outdoors.

We are looking for Trail Supervisors to oversee the following parks in New Jersey:
–Ramapo Valley County Reservation
–New Jersey Palisades: Oversees trails in Closter Nature Center, Flat Rock Brook Nature Center, Lamont Reserve, Palisades Interstate Park, Tenafly Nature Center
–Garret Mountain Reservation and Rifle Camp Park

We are looking for two volunteer Local Trails Committee Chairs to join our team!

The Local Trails Committee Chair (Trail Chair) is an important part of the Trail Conference. Our volunteer Trail Chairs take the big-picture view of a region and work with a Program Coordinator to build a positive future for all the trails and volunteers they oversee. Trail Chairs support and empower a team of Trail Supervisors and identify the short- and long-term needs of the trails in their assigned area to ensure the public has a safe and positive experience outdoors.

We have two Local Trails Chair positions available in New Jersey:

1. Central North Jersey (South) – This position oversees Morristown National Historical Park, Mountainside Park, and Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area.

2. North Jersey – This position oversees Norvin Green State Forest, Long Pond Ironworks State Park, Tranquility Ridge County Park, Ramapo Mountain State Park, and Ringwood State Park.

Trail work has begun on the Buttermilk Falls Trail in New Jersey. A complete trail closure will be required as work progresses over the next 2 months; however, the trail will remain open for as long as possible. Mountain Road will remain open to pedestrians while trail work is completed, allowing visitors to view the falls from the bottom.
