Our Summer Meeting 2011 turned into a celebration of trails as some 200 people gathered on the summit of Bear Mountain for the opening of a new 1.3-mile loop of Appalachian Trail that includes a 0.4-mile section of trail built to the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Following the opening (click here to read about it), three hikes of varying levels of difficulty and led by Trail Conference members, took different routes down the mountain. Everyone converged at our tent on the lawn near the Bear Mountain Inn for lunch, music by Two Dollar Goat, and a brief meeting of Trail Conference Delegates, who approved membership of six new groups.

Our next meeting will be the Annual Meeting on October 15 at the Caputo Community Center in Ossining, NY. Details to come, but expect pancakes and a schedule of hikes.
