Yorktown Trails

Primary tabs

A frequently asked question is where does the pedestrian bridge over the Taconic Parkway go? It connects four town parks to form a network of about 20 miles of trails. Very few town parks have more than four miles of trails; its official name is the Yorktown Trailway Taconic Parkway Overpass Bridge,. Known formally as the "bridge to nowhere". it is now known as "that bridge." It is only one link in the network of trails in Yorktown which, in 2018, is about 60 miles, more than any town in Westchester County.

Residents of Yorktown have discovered the advantages of having trails close by and use them to walk, jog, walk their dog, or ride their mountain bike. Not only do these trails provide low cost recreation which helps develop a healthy life style, they also enhance the value of nearby homes.

Through a memorandum of understanding between the Town of Yorktown and the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, volunteers have been building, managing, and maintaining this network of marked trails. Trail Conference and the Westchester Mountain Biking Association (WMBA) have partnered to develop this trail network with the Town of Yorktown, and FDR State Park.

In 2017, a senior at Yorktown HIgh School made a video of trails in Yorktown as an intership with the Yorktown Trail Town Committee . See The Trails of Yorktown video.
