Trail description has been updated
Daniel Chazin

The trails in the area of Lake Sonoma have indeed been reblazed recently.  Most of the hike descriptions in the area were updated to reflect the changed blazing, but this one somehow escaped my attention.  Now that it has been brought to my attention, I have updated the description to reflect the revised blazing of the trails in the area.  Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

It appears that trails have been re-blazed and or re-routed. At about 1 1/2 miles in on thee Orange Lake Sonoma Trail, it comes to an end at the Yellow Manticut Point Trail. At this point, it is not jointly blazed, but just yellow trail. Instead, about 30 yards to the west is trail marked with yellow-on-top-of-orange, rectangular blaze. What appears happened is: 1) Orange Lake Snnoma Trail ends at Yellow Manaticut Point Trail. 2) The Manaticut Point Trail still starts at Crescent Drive, but instead of turning south and joining the Hewitt-Butler trail, it continues west, what was originally the Lake Sonoma trail to Lake Sonoma. 3) The north-south section of Manaticut Point trail that previously joined the Lake Sonoma Trail to the Hewitt Butler Trail is now blazed wirh yellow above orange rectangular blaze. After wandering around for 45 minutes, trying to sort this out, I gave up and walked back to the trailhead. The map there also shows the incorrect blazes. Once I got home, I sorted out what was going on. Just as well. It was pretty hot and muggy.

Pleasant Dec. hike

Did this hike today as the temps began to finally feel like winter . The trails are very clearly marked, for the most part, and the directions are accurate. ( Thank you Mr. Chazin !)    This time of year don't expect stunning scenery as the landscape is grey and rusty brown. There is very little wildlife save for a few birds and ravens but no bugs and cool temps make it worth every minute! Did not meet a single soul on the trail ..only on Burnt Meadow Rd.  The overlook points are very impressive and I highly recommend this hike!
