Good hike
Did this hike on 01/20...a cold, clear, winter day . The trail was snow covered but not icy and I never needed to use my snow grippers. Started about about 9am and returned around 3pm. This is a rugged , long hike, especially once you pass West Brook Mt. There are about 6 steep, rocky climbs one after another. Not very high but the snow made for a slow go. The descent from Manaticut Pt. is super steep. Very quiet day, only one set of footprints until the Overlook Trail then only animal tracks. I did see 2 hunting blinds up in the trees, one just passed the power lines and another just before the private pond . Some nice view points.

Nice Hike, No Crowds
I did this hike on a Saturday, 6-29-19. My car was the only one on the road when I started (about 9:30), and there was one other car nearby when I finished (about 1:30). I did not see a single person the entire time I was hiking.
I did this hike in the clockwise direction, and am glad I did. The yellow trail is in great shape. The white trail is more rugged, and very overgrown in many spots. The section where you go from yellow/blue to white/blue is in need of some serious maintenance- you almost need to bushwhack through it.
The views are nice, the climbs are not overly strenuous, and the lake is a beautiful place to stop for lunch.
The only issue I had was finding the trailhead as my gps told me to take the first left on Crescent drive to the trailhead, but it is actually at the second left.
I want to do this hike again in the fall, when the trees are bare.
This is a great hike if you are looking to avoid crowds, and still want a medium length, moderate workout.

Huge blowdowns on yellow trail
Did this hike on 6/22/17. Just past the point where the yellow trail splits off to the left and right, the right trail is blocked by 3 or 4 huge trees that have blown down. The trail can still be followed if you just figure out your way around the mess. The hike was great aside from that. However, the views along the blue trail aren't much to write home about in my opinion. Overlook rock and Manaticut point are the best parts of this hike.
