Directions to trailhead
From the Taconic State Parkway, take the Route 202 Exit and head west. At 0.6 mile, turn left onto Pine Grove Court. Immediately turn right onto Old Crompond Road. Go 0.3 mile and turn left onto Hunterbrook Road. Go 1.1 miles to Fox Tail Lane and turn right. Parking is on the right side of the road. If using GPS navigation, Fox Tail Lane is near 1682 Hunterbrook Rd.
From the parking area on Fox Tail Lane, head away from Hunterbrook Road to the trailhead. The white trail begins on a mowed path. Turning left, it enters the forest and follows a stream running below. After crossing a feeder stream at 0.6 mile, the trail goes onto a woods road. At a large steel bridge, turn right to cross Hunter Brook. Continue on the green trail, pass a kiosk, and turn left at the first trail junction. The trail loops through the wetlands and turns right at the fence of the Southern New York Beagle Club at 1.2 miles. Continuing along the loop, the green trail passes stone walls in the upland forest. The green trail crosses a big trench and heads through an area with deep gullies. It descend steeply and then follows Hunter Brook. At 2.1 miles, it ends at the bridge mentioned earlier. Turn left, cross the bridge, and turn left again to retrace your steps along Hunter Brook to return to your car.
