Title

NJ Legislature OKs Sunday Deer Hunting

Body

On March 16, the State Assembly voted 69-9 to permit deer hunting with bow and arrow on Sundays. The State Senate approved the plan last fall. Gov. Corzine is expected to sign the legislation, after which DEP will develop regulations. The bill permits bow hunting on private property and state wildlife management lands during deer season and is largely intended as a measure to help manage the state's burgeoning deer herd. It is not clear what impact, if any, the expanded hunting will have on Sunday trail access in these areas for hikers and other trail users
