Appalachian Trail: Bear Mountain State Park, N.Y.

Our National Trails Day event co-hosted by REI will take place on the Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain State Park—the very first section of the A.T. built 95 years ago by Trail Conference volunteers. On June 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., we’ll be making a difference along this historic section of trail, from the bottom of Bear Mountain to its summit. There will be stewardship activities for every age, skill level, and interest, including trail building and old trail closure, invasive species identification and removal, and litter clean-up. Of course, a day of getting dirty is best rewarded with our version of a “happy hour.” After all your hard work, we hope you’ll stay for lunch and a chance to win REI gear as a token of our appreciation for your dedication to this treasured outdoor destination. Join us on the A.T.

Trail Love: Sterling Forest, Ramapo Reservation & Breakneck Ridge

Our Conservation Corps trail crews in Ramapo Valley County ReservationSterling Forest, and Hudson Highlands state parks will be celebrating National Trails Day with a little Trail Love. Trail Love events celebrate all good things about the trail community—connecting with nature, meeting great people, and creating a little trail magic. If you aren’t afraid to get a little dirty, come on out and help us keep your trails great. We’ll teach you everything you need to know about what we do, plus you’ll get snacks and a T-shirt.
