Accord reached on underground power line through Hudson Valley from Canada to NYC

Body

An underground transmission line that would bring power from Canada to the New York City metropolitan area is moving forward now that several government and environmental groups have signed on to an amended proposal for the project.

The Champlain Hudson Power Express would run more than 300 miles from the Canada-New York border, under Lake Champlain and the Hudson River. It would deliver 1,000 megawatts of new power to the metropolitan New York area. The project is being executed by Albany-based Transmission Developers Inc.
