Park Description
When Hurricane Sandy blew through Westchester County in the fall of 2012, she inflicted heavy damage to Brownell Preserve. Trees completely blocked trails making it impossible to walk. In 2016, thanks to the efforts by town volunteers and a civic internship at John Jay High School, trails were cleared making it possible to once again enjoy the preserve.
Lewisboro residents Katharine and George Brownell established the preserves in 1984 with the bequest of open space to be used for wildlife habitat and passive recreation. He was an envoy to Mexico and India during the Truman Administration
