Delaware Wild Forest
Since it is not as heavily used as areas, there are ample opportunities for solitude in this western-most part of the Catskill Park.
The Mud Pond Trail (Blue, 3.9 miles) can be reached by taking NY Route 17 to exit 93 (Cooks Falls) and proceeding north on Russell Brook Road for 2.3 miles. It can be combined with the 1.4 mile southern section of the Trout Pond Trail (Blue, 5.1 miles) to form a scenic 6.7 mile loop hike.
There are many other trails in the forest.
This forest was designated in 2008 by the re-classification of the Cherry Ridge-Cambell Mountain Wild Forest and the Middle Mountain-Mary Smith Hill Wild Forest.
