Italian Arum is a toxic invasive plant that threatens woodlands, meadows and wetlands.  Like Lesser Celandine it is highly adaptive to diverse conditions and forms dense stands that crowd out native species.  It is initially spread from garden plantings and has begun to invade nearby natural areas in our region.  You can help protect native plants and animals by documenting Italian Arum anywhere you see it.

Join us Saturday, March 9th to see the largest infestations of Italian Arum in New York state.  Adam Thornbrough, Forestry, Horticulture, & Natural Resources, New York City Department of Parks and Recreation will give an overview of NYC Parks efforts to eradicate this and other emerging invasive species.  Adam will share some of the challenges posed by this particular species and why it is so critical to prevent it from spreading further.
