Twenty students from Ramapo College of New Jersey worked to create three new trails in the Farny Highlands near Camp Winnebago in Rockaway Township on September 1. The students divided into three squads--rakers, cutters, and blazers--and began the task of turning some old forest paths into new hiking trails. In conjunction with the Four Birds Trail, these trails, when completed, will create new opportunities for loop hikes to be enjoyed by visitors.
We wish to thank the folks at Camp Winnebago and the Newark Watershed and Development Corporation, as well as all the hard-working students of the Ramapo College Leaders in Service team:
Bob Jonas & Estelle Anderson Co-Chairs on the Central North Jersey Committee, and Michael Lenhardt; Trails Supervisor.
