Bus Service in the Catskills
I think New York Trailways (http://www.trailwaysny.com) provides bus service to Palenville and Phoenicia. Both towns are in the heart of the Catskills and are very close to the Long Path, which links to many other trails (including the Devil's Path and Escarpment Trail). Depending on how long you have for your hike, you could probably take the bus to one town and return from the other town (there are a few lean-tos along the way for you to camp at).

Brian - Trailways has a terminal on Washington Avenue in Kingston. They serve tha Catskills just take the Ulster County Bus from Stone Ridge to the terminal. I do not know much about the schedules of either of them though. Andy
