New section of Long Path opens in Catskills

 Volunteers spent 1,500 hours over a two-year period to create a 9.5-mile hiking trail that starts in Phoenicia and goes up into the Slide Mountain Wilderness.

On Saturday, National Trails Day, the public can see the results of those efforts. The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference will celebrate the culmination of the work with an 11 a.m. opening the newest section of the Long Path. . .
