Paul Leikin Extra Mile Award: Recognizes those volunteers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to projects such as a book, map or advocacy. This year we presented the award to:
Frank Dogil, Poughkeepsie, NY, an A.T. Corridor Supervisor for North Dutchess County and an A.T. volunteer since 1997. Frank was a key member of the volunteer team that built the 1600-foot boardwalk over the Great Swamp in Pawling, NY. Over 2 1/2 years of construction, Frank made more than 75 trips to the site and put in more than 500 hours of work.
The Trail Conference this year honored Frank, and two others of the project team--Robert Haas and Stephen Klauck--for extraordinary contributions of time and talent and long-term dedication to the Appalachian Trail.
