Trail Assessment: Trail U 829

Workshop Number:
829

Crossing the outlet of Frick Pond on the Quick Lake TrailJoin the Trail Conference's Senior Program Coordinator Jeff Senterman on an interactive trail assessment hike of approximately 1.85 mile (round trip) around Frick Pond in the western Catskill Mountains.  This easy to moderate walk on the Quick Lake Trail, Big Rock Trail and Loggers Loop Trail will offer numerous examples of areas that the new Willowemoc Trail Crew will be working on this summer.

As we walk, we will be learning how to assess the condition of the trail, understand existing trail problems such as erosion and drainage, and learn what can be done to create a trail that is more enjoyable to hike and more sustainable in regards to the environment and ongoing maintenance.

This Trail Assessment Workshop is free and open to the public and will be held in conjunction with the Introduction to Catskills Trail Crew workshop in the morning, however you may just register for the Trail Assessment Workshop and Hike if you do not wish to attend the morning workshop.

Please make sure to wear your hiking boots, dress appropriately for the outdoor conditions and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated as we hike.
