Trail U 574 - Trail Layout and Design

Workshop Number:
574
This 2-day workshop is devoted to establishing guidelines for laying out a safe, exciting and ecologically sound trail. Topics covered include trail planning, soils, grades, hydrological relationships and trail alignments.  Students will also learn about the 'humanity' in a trail: what makes one trail more enjoyable and satisfying than another.  Trail experience concepts such as users' expectations, gateways, anchors and trail flow will be introduced, discussed and analyzed in existing trails and implemented in new designs.  Participants will have the opportunity to design a new trail segment.   Please contact Jeff Senterman ([email protected]) if you would like to register for this course.  Trail Conference membership is required for attendance.
