The Trail Conference's Long Path Trail Crew is working on the new section of Long Path that begins near Phoenicia, continues over Romer Mountain, Mount Pleasant and Cross Mountain and then will connect with the Burroughs Range Trail.
On this extended backcountry service trip we will be working on the section that traverses Cross Mountain between Wittenburg and Mount Pleasant.
This is a week long work trip in the backcountry of the Catskill Mountains. We will be camping each night on the mountain at a basecamp. More details are available by contacting the leader.
Work will include clearing trees and vegetation, and tread construction such as raking, side-hilling, waterbars and stone steps.
Unable to volunteer to be on the Trail Crew for a week, but you are still interested in supporting our work? We still need your help! You can join our support crew to help move materials, tools and supplies for the basecamp throughout the week. For more information on and how to sign up with the support crew, information is available here. The support crew will be organizing a number of hikes to the basecamp area throughout the week that the Trail Crew is working on Romer Mountain.
