Welcome to the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference (“NYNJTC,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By accessing and using our website (www.nynjtc.org), initiating a membership or donation transaction, or engaging with our services, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not use our website or services.
1. Website Use & Restrictions
- The website is provided for informational, educational, and engagement purposes related to trail stewardship, conservation, and membership benefits.
- Users must not engage in any illegal activities, upload malicious software, or use our website for unauthorized commercial purposes.
- We reserve the right to remove or restrict access to users who violate these terms.
2. Payment Processing Terms
When you submit a payment form or mail in payment, NYNJTC will charge your payment method immediately.
Membership Terms
Visit nynjtc.org/membership for current membership rates. We may modify benefits and pricing at any time, with renewal charges processed at current rates.
As a member, you receive:
- 25% off Trail Conference books and maps (direct purchases only)
- 10% off Trail Conference logo merchandise
- Partner business discounts
- Trail Walker quarterly newsletter subscription
- Tax-deductible donation receipt
All memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Recurring Payments
Choosing a recurring payment option authorizes automatic charges to your payment method at your selected interval.
Monthly charges are processed on the same date each month. Annual membership charges are processed on your initial payment date each year. For dates not present in certain months (like January 31 to February), charges are processed on the month’s last day.
Weekend or holiday payments may be processed the next business day. You’ll receive email confirmation for all processed payments.
Failed Payments
We attempt to process failed payments up to 3 times before suspending your recurring plan. You can reactivate within 30 days by either updating your payment status to ‘active’ in the self-service portal or contacting our staff. After 30 days, you’ll need to create a new recurring payment. We’ll notify you by email about payment failures, suspensions, and cancellation.
Cancellation
Billing continues until you cancel your membership or donation. To cancel recurring payments:
- Use the self-service cancellation in your online portal account
- Contact our support team directly
Submit self-service cancellations 24 hours before your next payment. For support team or mailed cancellations, allow 3 business days.

3. Intellectual Property & Copyright
- All content on the website, including maps, text, and photographs, is owned by NYNJTC or its contributors.
- We claim non-exclusive rights to all photos displayed on our site. However, we acknowledge that in some cases, we may not know the photographer. If you identify yourself as the photographer, we are happy to credit you.
- Major contributors of images include Steve Aaron, Jeremy Apgar, Dan Balogh, Daniel Chazin, Jane Daniels, Jakob Franke, and Daniela Wagstaff.
- Photo Submission Terms: By submitting photographs to the Trail Conference, you grant us:
- A nonexclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, and publicly display your submitted photos.
- The right to use your name in promotions and publications.
- Photographers retain all other rights to their submitted work.
4. Third-Party Links & External Resources
- Our website may contain links to third-party websites for additional resources, event registration, or partner discounts.
- NYNJTC is not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of external websites.
5. Liability Disclaimer & Risk Assumption
- Trail hiking and outdoor activities involve inherent risks, including but not limited to injuries, weather hazards, and wildlife encounters.
- Trail maps and information are provided “as is” without guarantees of accuracy. Conditions may change, and users are encouraged to verify details before heading outdoors.
- NYNJTC is not liable for any injuries, accidents, or damages arising from trail use.
6. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
- These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of New York and New Jersey.
- Any disputes arising from website use, membership, or other interactions shall first attempt to be resolved through mediation before pursuing litigation.
7. Termination & Modifications
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate memberships or website access for violations of these Terms.
- We may modify these Terms at any time. Updates will be posted on our website, and continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any modifications.
