| Park Description: | There is much to enjoy at Stillwell Preserve such as abundant plant and wildlife and impressive views north towards the tall ridges of the Harbor Mill Moraine in Cold Spring Harbor. The main draw for hikers to this park is the 3-mile Loop Trail, which at a point merges with the Nassau-Suffolk Greenbelt Trail. (Hiking Long Island guidebook). |
| Trails Overview: | The yellow-blazed Loop Trail begins on the east side of the soccer fields and heads eastward into the woods. Hikers can also make side-trips along this short trail for further exploration. |
| Directions: | Trail begins from the parking area on the east side of South Woods Road across from Syosset High School. To get there, leave the LIE at exit 44, turning north on Route 135, the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway. Continue to the end, then turn east and go about 0.75 mile on Route 25 (Jericho Turnpike) to East Woods Road. Make a left and the parking lot is on the right just past the high school. |
