Rose Bonanno reported our Eagle Fest participation was a success, earning $193.00.

Rose Bonanno, Geof Connor, Fred and Connie Stern attended Westchester County Parks Meeting in White Plains, and presented highlights of the TC work over the years in Ward Pound Ridge Reservation as an example of how the TC benefits county parks. Because of the success of trail junction markers at WPRR, Muscoot Park has asked for their trail junctions to be numbered.

Re blazing and trail improvement joining Teatown Reservation with Kitchawan Preserve was announced by Lee Draper.

Geoff Connor reported work at WPRR has continued through the winter, with a Rocks Trail reroute, as well as the Covered Bridge Trail.

Featured Presentation

MK Moore, Metro LTC Chair, presented his success story of capitalizing on social media to spread the word through his region, recruiting volunteers, reaching community organizations, enlisting the aid of NYC parks to help create trails, maintain them, organize invasives removal, plant trees, train leaders to supervise volunteers.  Through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, interfacing with parks’ websites, community websites, press releases, and lots of personal outreach along the way, MK has created a huge network of active volunteers to build NYC parks for the pleasure of hiking, walking, enjoying nature.  An example for all TC, showing how to use of current communication systems can do an incredible job.

Round  Robin

Discussion of TC’s 100 anniversary concurrent with ATC Vista 2020 and how the TC will celebrate, and particularly in our region, possibly with events throughout the year, beginning in 2019 as well.  It will be on the agenda for the April 9 meeting.

Suggestion made to again invite maintainers to the April 9 meeting.
