Tell Governor Murphy to Protect Funding for Open Space

New Jersey stands to lose 48 million dollars over 10 years to preserve and protect open spaces, farmland, and historic sites from being destroyed.

Here's what's happening: a surcharge on the two percent most wealthy corporations is set to expire on December 31, 2023, and unless enough people speak up, the state will lose millions of dollars in land preservation funding and with it more of our pristine open lands will be lost to development. This funding is crucial to address nature deprivation in overburdened communities, mitigate flooding and stormwater runoff, preserve land to filter and provide clean drinking water, and ensure that all New Jerseyans have access to high quality open spaces, no matter their zip code.

New Jersey voters have overwhelmingly supported land preservation and open space protection time and time again. As development pressures increase, now is not the time to pull back on investing in open spaces and outdoor recreation.
