Description:
When you sign up as a Community Outreach Volunteer you become part of an important team within our Trail Family. You will represent the organization at a variety of community events, fairs and other fun activities and you’ll educate people about the trails and natural areas we care for.
There are millions of people in New York and New Jersey that recreate on the trails we maintain, and we want to share our story with each one of them.
Responsibilities:
- Once onboarded, you will be added to team list of Community Outreach Representatives. Whenever an opportunity comes up we will send out an email to the list and you can sign up for each event you’d like to attend. We always give as much notice as possible since we understand you keep a busy schedule and need to plan
- If you’ve been assigned for an event we will provide an outreach kit to you so that you have all the materials you need
- Represent the Trail Conference at the event by speaking with people, providing materials, encouraging them to sign up to volunteer and/or become a member, and sometimes selling merchandise
- Most importantly: HAVE FUN!
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passion for the Trail Conference and its mission
- Strong people skills
- Positive attitude
- Willing to learn more
- Must have own transportation to and from event(s)
- Attend at least 1 event per year
We will train you on all you need to know and give you opportunities to shadow experienced outreach volunteers.
There will be opportunities offered throughout the New York and New Jersey region, and there will be a variety of indoor and outdoor options.
Time Commitment:
You control your schedule. Outreach opportunities arise throughout the year and you sign up for the ones you can attend.
