Regional Program Coordinator Job Description

Summary

The regional program coordinator (RPC) serves as the Trail Conference’s primary staff responsible for a particular geographic region.  This includes delivering and supporting the organization’s programs in her/his area to accomplish the Trail Conference’s mission and strategic goals.  S/he facilitates the cooperative work of staff, land managers and volunteers responsible for the trail experience. This position is ultimately accountable to the executive director.

Responsibilities

  1. Regional Trails Council (RTC)

    1. Works  with the RTC chair to develop meeting agendas.

    2. Coordinate the regional annual plan and budget process with the RTC and staff management.

    3. Work with RTC’s to ensure regional implementation of policies and annual plan.

    4. Coordinate all regional workshops and other training opportunities.

    5. Provide support, when necessary, for RTC task forces.

  2. Local Trail Committee (LTC) Support

    1. Coordinate with the volunteer coordinator and volunteer leadership to recruit, retain, train, support and recognize volunteers.

    2. Work with LTC’s to develop good working relationships with land managers.

    3. Work with volunteer leadership to identify, plan, and implement projects.

    4. Ensure budget and procurement process compliance for regional projects.

    5. Collect and review trail management reports and maintain up to date Trail Conference records.

  3. Advocacy and Conservation

    1. Protect the access and experience of trails through advocacy and land protection.

    2. Coordinate with conservation committee and LTC chairs to identify land acquisition opportunities and mobilize appropriate response.

    3. Oversee the creation/renewal and compliance of MOUs, management, and use agreements.

  4. Communications

    1. Inform communications manager of Trail Conference activities in the region (i.e. volunteers/projects/partners, photographs, etc.).

    2. Work with LTC chairs to create and distribute reports to land managers, donors, and elected officials.

    3. Keep regional website content current.

    4. Work with communications manager and LTCs to create and update signage, brochures, flyers, etc.

  5. Policy Council

    1. Provide input to the Policy Council on mission-related policies.

  6. Development

    1. Assist with procuring resources to meet the region’s needs.

    2. Prepare project proposals, manage grants, and prepare reports.

    3. Promote the Trail Conference’s fee services (trail building, cartography, signage, etc.).
