About the Crew

The Catskills' Willowemoc Trail Crew is dedicated to helping maintain Trail Conference trails in the Southwestern Catskill Mountain Region, specifically the trails within the Willowemoc Wild Forest. The crew's work includes clearing back brush and weeds, properly marking trails, removing blowdowns and helping to maintain previously built trail structures such as waterbars. The Crew exists to support our individual trail maintainer volunteers who have adopted sections of trail throughout the region. Work trips are held throughout the maintenance season (May through October).

Get Involved

  • Lisa Lyons is Crew Leader of the Willowemoc Trail Crew. Lisa is the owner of Morgan Outdoors, a local outdoor gear retailer in Livingston Manor and she has extensive experience with the hiking and exploring trails and routes of the Southwestern Catskills.
  • Willowemoc Trail Crew trips are listed on our events page. If you'd like to be on an email notification list for Willowemoc Trail Crew work dates, please send an email to [email protected] and we will connect you with Lisa to be notified of future work dates.

Before You Go

Please phone/email the leaders for meeting location and driving directions. Rain cancels - if in doubt, contact the leaders between 7:00 and 8:00 that morning. There is usually a walk to the work site, so please be there on time (call the leaders' cell phone if you are coming to an event and are running late).

For every crew outing, make sure you bring your lunch, plenty of water, gloves and sturdy workshoes, and be prepared to get dirty. All tools, materials and training will be provided. Beginners are welcome on all work trips.

Training

No experience is necessary and beginners are encouraged to join us! We provide onsite training each worktrip.
