Kumi Redpath Blazes a Record-Breaking Run on the Long Path!

Kumi Redpath FKT Long Path

You made Long Path history, Kumi!

On Sunday, May 10, 2026, Kumi Redpath completed the 358-mile Long Path end to end in 7 days, 7 hours, 59 minutes, and 57 seconds, officially setting a new supported fastest known time (FKT) on New York’s signature long-distance trail.

The previous overall supported FKT record, set by Jeffrey Adams in 2019, was 7 days, 12 hours, 18 minutes, and 40 seconds. Redpath’s time surpassed that mark by more than four hours—averaging 50 miles per day on just a few hours of sleep. An extraordinary accomplishment!

The 50-year-old ultra trail runner’s historic feat doubled as a fundraiser for the Trail Conference, which stewards every mile of the Long Path and maintains more than 2,100 miles of trails across the Northeast. To date, Redpath has raised more than $4,000 for the organization.

Redpath shared her motivation for the epic run:

“As an Asian woman and an older runner, this journey means something deeper to me. I want to use this attempt to raise awareness and help create more space for people who are often underrepresented on the trails. Everyone deserves to feel welcome, supported, and empowered outdoors.”

Josh Howard, Executive Director of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, celebrated Redpath’s achievement:

“This remarkable FKT record set by Kumi Redpath is a powerful reminder that the Long Path belongs to everyone. Her achievement is about more than a record—it’s about possibility, access, and the many ways people connect with this extraordinary trail. Whether you’re moving fast in pursuit of a goal, hiking a section with friends, or seeking quiet moments outdoors, the Long Path offers something meaningful in every mile. Her accomplishment reinforces what we believe at our core: there is no single way to experience the trail—only your own journey.”

The Trail Conference team extends its heartfelt congratulations to Redpath on her stunning success. Way to go, Kumi!
