What We Do

Enhancing the Trail Experience

For over a century, the Trail Conference has been the trusted steward of trails across the region. We build, maintain, and protect trails to ensure safe, sustainable, and enjoyable access to the outdoors. Our commitment to conservation and stewardship keeps these trails open for generations to come.

Building & Maintaining Trails That Last

Great trails don’t just happen—they’re carefully designed, built, and maintained by our dedicated volunteers and staff. Every step of the way, we prioritize sustainability, accessibility, and the protection of natural spaces.

Stewarding Our Natural Environment

Protecting trails goes beyond maintenance. Our Stewardship Programs safeguard the landscapes that make these experiences possible. With the expertise of our Conservation Dogs, the botanical knowledge of the Invasives Strike Force Crew, and the dedication of our Trail Stewards, we work tirelessly to preserve the wild spaces we love.

The Impact of Our Conservation Corps

The Trail Conference Conservation Corps (TCCC) is on the front lines of trail sustainability. Through trail construction, habitat restoration, and invasive species management, our members make lasting contributions to the health of our trails and ecosystems. Their passion ensures that these outdoor spaces remain accessible and thriving.

Expanding & Protecting Trails Across the Region

With a vast network spanning over 100 parks across 22 counties, the Trail Conference takes a strategic, regional approach to trail protection. Our four regional programs—Catskills, Hudson Valley West, Hudson Valley East, and New Jersey—allow us to respond to the unique needs of each landscape while ensuring trails remain open and welcoming for all.
