Improving the Trail Experience
The Trail Conference publishes accurate maps and guides, builds and maintains trails, and champions conservation and stewardship across the region.
Providing Regional Trail Information
Since 1923, the Trail Conference has been your trusted source for accurate, up-to-date trail information. Explore with confidence using our maps, guidebooks, Trail Walker newsletter, and website—your guides to safe and enjoyable outdoor adventures.
Building and Maintaining Area Trails
Trails offer adventure and a way to explore nature while protecting its beauty. Designed with care and collaboration, modern trails balance the needs of the landscape and all who use them.
Stewards of our Regional Environment
The Trail Conference is taking proactive steps to safeguard our natural resources. With the skilled noses of our Conservation Dogs, the botanical savvy of our Invasives Strike Force Crew, and the extensive knowledge of our public-facing Trail Stewards, our diverse Stewardship programming covers a lot of ground (literally!) to protect the land we love.
Our Conservation Corps Makes an Impact
The Trail Conference Conservation Corps (TCCC) enhances and protects our trails. Members engage in trail construction, habitat restoration, and invasive species control, helping to keep our trail network accessible and sustainable. Their dedication extends our reach, connecting more people to the natural spaces we cherish.
Expanding and Protecting Trails Across the Greater NY Area
Protecting and enhancing a vast trail network in one of the nation’s most densely populated regions requires strategic programs and initiatives. Our four regional trail programs—Catskills, Hudson Valley West, Hudson Valley East, and New Jersey—enable us to effectively serve over 100 park units across 22 counties in the greater New York metropolitan area.
