About the Author

Don Weise is an author, hike leader, environmental advocate, and Trail Conference Life Member. Don joined the staff in 2011 as development manager for major gift donations; in 2012, he was named Director. Don holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration, a Master’s degree in Secondary Education, and speaks fluent German. Don brought more than 20 years of business development experience and an inside perspective on hiking and the Trail Conference to the job. Don has served as a Trail Conference board member, trail maintainer, co-chair of the West Milford Open Space Committee, leader of fundraising and advocacy events for the Trail Conference, and author of West Milford Baker’s Dozen, a local hiking book. His latest book, Circuit Hikes in Harriman, is to be published by the Trail Conference. When not working to build support for the Trail Conference, Don enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, hiking, and running.
