The New York Bridge Authority announced that construction will begin this year to replace the decking on the Bear Mountain Bridge and enhance safety and accessibility on the bridge (Mile 1,409.8 northbound on the AT). At least one sidewalk will remain open to pedestrians during the entirety of the project. There should not be impacts to Appalachian Trail (A.T.) hiker itineraries.
For more information about the project visit the bridge authority website. The project is expected to be completed in the Fall 2027.
