The West Jersey Trail Crew

Meeting Place: The West Jersey Trail Crew works in several Northwest New Jersey parks. We meet at various locations and trailheads depending on our projects. Please see upcoming events for details.

Work Days: Saturday

Frequency: The Crew works Spring (mid-April through the end of June) and Fall (early September through mid-November) schedules.

About the Crew

Since 2000, the West Jersey Trail Crew has been actively maintaining and improving trails in western New Jersey’s parks and forests. Our crew tackles all aspects of trail work, including:

  • Restoring trails damaged by overuse
  • Remediating erosion with water bars and check dams
  • Constructing bridges and stepping stone stream crossings
  • Building stone retaining walls
  • Installing rock or timber steps on steep trails
  • Creating brand new sections of trail (our favorite!)

Get Involved

If you would like to volunteer with the West Jersey Crew, please email [email protected].

For all trips bring work gloves, plenty of water, and a lunch you can eat on the trails. To volunteer with the crew, visit our Events Page.

Training

  • All are welcome (under 18 need permissions), no matter what your experience at trail work is. We will be happy to teach you – all we ask is that you come ready to work hard, get dirty, and have a great time with some great people.
  • We supply all the tools, you bring your lunch, water, gloves, a hard hat, and weather-appropriate clothing. We will send an email notification to everybody early in the week of a work trip, detailing the what-where-when details.
