Volunteer Dog Surveyor
No dog training experience required — just a curious, sniff-loving dog and a passion for the outdoors…Become a Volunteer Dog Surveyor!
Invasive plant species threaten the health and biodiversity of our forests, often beginning as small, scattered plants that are easy to overlook along trails. Through the Volunteer Dog Surveyor Program, you will learn how to turn your regular hikes into meaningful conservation work using the power of your dog’s nose!
To guide you through this collaborative interspecies activity, we provide a detailed self-study curriculum as well as step-by-step instructional modules, in-person dog friendly workshops, and ongoing support to help you and your dog succeed. Once trained, you and your dog will conduct structured, on-leash trail surveys along designated routes, following simple survey protocols, and submitting valuable data!
Data collected by Volunteer Dog Surveyor teams expand the capacity of our Conservation Dogs Program, support early detection, and help land managers prioritize control efforts before minor infestations become major.
Sign up today to start building a stronger bond with your pup and making a measurable difference on the trails you love.
