The Appalachian Trail (A.T.), Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail (S-BM), and Major Welch Trail in Bear Mountain State Park have been temporarily rerouted due to construction projects between the parking area near the Bear Mountain Inn and the trailheads. The New York Bridge Authority announced that construction will begin this year to replace the decking on the Bear Mountain Bridge and enhance safety and accessibility on the bridge (Mile 1,409.8 northbound on the AT).
