Norvin Green State Forest (southern section) Reblazing Complete

NYNJTC Volunteer reblazing trail markings at Norvin Green State Forest

As of late October 2025, the trails within the southern section of Norvin Green State Forest in Passaic County, NJ have been reblazed and reconfigured by volunteers and staff of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference. Several trail blazes have changed color to improve clarity and consistency, and multiple loops have been created to make the trail system easier to navigate.

The following map shows the new trail system blazes and names (click to enlarge), and for reference, a map showing the old trails is also below.

Please be sure to use an updated map from one of the following sources to explore this reblazed trail system:

The reconfigured trail system includes several new loops, with spur trails to connect to parking lots or road access. The new loops include:

  • High Point Loop – Purple-blazed loop to Wyanokie High Point, using a purple/black spur from parking at The New Weis Center.
  • Mine Loop – Orange-blazed loop around Roomy Mine, using an orange/black spur from Townsend Road.
  • Will Monroe Loop – Pink-blazed loop to Assiniwikam Mountain, using a pink/black spur from parking at Camp Wyanokie.
  • Wyanokie Circular Loop – Red-blazed loop through the central part of the park, using a red/black spur from parking on Glenwild Avenue.

We acknowledge the hard work done by our volunteers who planned and executed this massive project, including volunteer leaders Dawn Rivera and Michael Iovino, and all the many dozens of volunteers who spent their time helping. Thanks to the Ringwood State Park office for support, and local NJ SAR. Our goal is to continue to improve the trails in the park, and make them safe for hikers.
